Maquilapolis displays the wretched life of the labouring women (maquilas) in the factories of the big multinationals at the border of Mexico and the USA. Carmen spends six nights a week in the Panasonic factory. After she has manufactured television parts all night, she returns to her self-made shack in a neighbourhood without streets, sewerage or electricity. As a single mother, taking care of her three children, she is lucky if she sleeps two hours a day. A story about globalization and the violation of human rights.

* FilmExtra: Including a debate by FNV Mondiaal after the screening in presence of one of the Maquilas on Monday 11th.

* In the Talkshow of May 13th the maquila Lourdes Lujan tells about the work in the maquiladores and the film.
